Privacy
We're a group that fights surveillance. We'd be hypocrites to run a petition that tracks you. This page is the whole deal.
What we collect
Only what you type into the petition: your name, email, town and ZIP; whether you live in the Village of East Canton, and if so your street address and whether you're registered there; how the cameras affect you; an optional message; an optional phone number; and what you'd help with. We also note which link brought you here (like a Facebook post or a flyer) so we know which outreach works. That's a short tag, not a tracker.
What we don't collect
No analytics, no ad pixels, no Facebook or Google trackers, no cookies. The page remembers that you signed on your own device so it can show the camera as off. That never leaves your browser.
What we do with it
- Council gets your name, your town, whether you live in the village, and how you're affected. If you checked the box, your message goes too.
- We publish only a count, and a message with your first name and town if you said we could.
- We use your email for petition updates if you asked for them, your phone for texts only if you checked the text box, and your address to confirm village residents and to bring the official ballot petition to the door if you live in the village.
What we never do
We never sell, rent or trade your information. We never publish your email, phone or street address. We never hand the list to a party, a candidate or a campaign.
Where it's stored
Signatures are stored in a Google Cloud Firestore database that the public can't read. Only the organizers can export it.
